Law &
Healthcare: Bridging the Divisions
The Idaho
Law Review Symposium continues the tradition
of promoting an interdisciplinary dialogue
about how law affects Idahoans'
daily lives. The Symposium employs a
two-part approach: a print edition devoted
to a particular topic published in early
spring, followed by a series of live panel
discussions that focus on separate aspects
of the topic at hand. While the Idaho Law
Review has successfully sponsored symposia on a variety of
important community topics, the Healthcare
Symposium is the first time the Law Review
has tackled the important topic of
healthcare.
The daily
practice of healthcare has increasingly
become entwined with legal concerns. In a
field fraught with countless administrative
regulations, often unclear standards of care
and shifting informational technologies,
defining professional liability in
healthcare can oftentimes be challenging. Particularly in a social climate that tends
to encourage lawsuits involving healthcare
professionals, it is crucial to understand
some key legal implications in one’s daily
practice. Thus, it is the goal of the
Healthcare Symposium to promote a dialogue
in order to define common concerns of
healthcare and legal professionals.
This year’s
event will be held on Friday,
April 11th at the Red Lion Downtowner.*
Healthcare professionals, attorneys, and
nationally renowned scholars will lead a
dialogue on topics including privacy,
standard of care, consent, and other
healthcare issues germane to Idaho, while
encouraging questions from attendees.
We look forward to seeing you there.
* We regret to
